Emiah Elliott – Guest blog

My name is Emiah Elliott, I’m 21 years old and I have recently graduated in Fashion Apparel Design and Construction at Trinity Saint David’s University of Wales. Inspired by dreams, this collection of contemporary evening wear is symbolic of dream duality. The collection symbolises the fine line between dreams and nightmares through the seemingly light and playful prints, but up close show a more sinister side. Through the shapes within the garments I have attempted to capture the essence of dreams, fleeting views through delicate fabric, conveying to the viewer the nature of our dreams.

After graduating in the summer I was fortunate to have the opportunity to intern at an established fashion house, an experience which was invaluable. As a result of this experience, in the future I hope to further my career by working for other couture fashion houses to gain further experience and to develop my design skills. Eventually I hope to create a successful fashion brand of my own.

I am thrilled to be given this opportunity to show my collection at Cardiff Fashion Week. Cardiff Fashion Week is an innovative platform and a great opportunity for established brands and emerging Welsh designers to showcase their work to the fashion industry. The exposure that Cardiff Fashion Week gives to young designers is essential for keeping Welsh fashion at the cutting edge of the industry.
